With resignation to the will of God, we announce the death of Rev. Fr. Daniel Emeka NWAMARABIA C.S.Sp, of the Holy Ghost Congregation, Province of Nigeria. He died at the University Teaching Hospital Gwagwalada, Abuja, Nigeria at 6.00 a.m. on Sunday February 17, 2008. Fr Daniel Emeka NWAMARABIA C.S.Sp was born on November 10, 1948 at Orsuihiteukwa, diocese of Orlu in Imo state, Nigeria. In response to the divine call, he abandoned a thriving pharmaceutical business enterprise which he had in Lagos and went to the Holy Ghost Juniorate Ihiala in 1977 as an advanced student to complete courses for the secondary school certificate and to qualify from there for the Holy Ghost Novitiate, Awo-Omamma. He made his first Spiritan Religious profession on November 7, 1981 and was ordained priest on March 24, 1990. He worked subsequently in Nigeria in the pastoral apostolate, first in various parishes - Ikere, Ikole, and Emure - in Ekiti diocese, then in Elele Alimini parish in the diocese of Port Harcourt. He then went on foreign mission to Trinidad and Tobago where he worked in the parish of St Peter and St Paul, Mayaro. On return to Nigeria, he was posted to the Okura region and worked last as the parish priest of Gwagwa-Jiwa parish in the Archdiocese of Abuja. He exercised a high pastoral zeal in the parish, caring for displaced populations affected by the physical demolition and restructure activities of the Government in the Federal Capital Territory and which strongly affected the area of Gwagwa-Jiwa parish and its environs. The funeral was held at the Holy Ghost Novitiate, chapel and cemetery, Awo-Omamma on Tuesday March 4, 2008.
May God grant him the joys of eternal life. Amen
Fr. Stan Agu, C.S.Sp
